The Luberon

The Luberon

The Mas is situated right in the heart of a protected national park: the Luberon. Here, the provençal countryside is kept in pristine condition. Forests and the “garrigue” protect agricultural valleys dotted with vineyards, cherry orchards and olive groves, while hilltop villages keep a close eye on the activities below.

The magnificent Luberon Park covers 600 square kilometres (230 square miles) and is divided lengthwise by the Luberon mountain range running for about 55 kilometres (35 miles) east to west.  The north of the park includes the Vaucluse mountains and our Mas is located in the valley between the two mountain ranges.

It’s a pleasant 20 minute walk to our village, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, and just nearby are the famed perched villages of the Luberon (Roussillon, Gordes, Lacoste, Ménerbes, Bonnieux, Saignon) which crown the hilltops up and down the valley.

Within at most an half hour drive of our inn you’ll find some of Provence’s most beautiful and famous sights:

To the North: the Albion Plateau and high lavender country, with the lovely village of Sault facing the Mount Ventoux.
To the South: a stunning drive up and over the Luberon mountains leads to the picturesque villages of Lourmarin, Cucuron and Ansouis.
To the East: the “Colorado” of Provence and just slightly off the beaten path – the Alpes de Haute Provence (Viens, Simiane-la-Rotonde, Banon)
To the West: the Abbey of Sénanque, the Fontaine de Vaucluse and for antique lovers – Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

But the Luberon also boasts of an incredible array of outdoor activities for all levels: cycling and mountain-biking, hiking, climbing, airborne sports… The opportunities await you!

We created  a map for you to explore some of the highlights of our valley. Every site on the map is less than a 30 minute drive from the Mas Perréal.
